Residential space in contemporary society is amazingly standard. We often judge life quality with commodities filling this space. The space persuades people ‘to live like this’, stimulating aspiration for items and objects. It inspires a fantasy but reinforces a sense of oppression. The house Lee Jung-hye presents takes the form of a simple abode, but is an extremely individual space in which things indispensible for comfort are excluded. Lee’s work demonstrates a will to consider space that is preferable for those living alone within the form of house.
