  Sung-kyu Ahn, as exemplified in his detailed illustration of the buildings, shrewdly observes the extremity of the detail while accusing the limitation of such perspective by contrasting the space and such buildings, paradoxically approaching the idea of detail and what it overlooks. In depicting the canvas frames such as the windows, he detaches his drawings from the natural colors, attempting to account for the limited perspective of the observer. This limitation should be explained as an acknowledgement of not just his own limits but an inherent epistemological limit of mankind as a whole, enabling his paintings to transcend fixed interpretations that landscape paintings invite. The fact that such mechanisms of his paintings take place within the space that is structurally constructed within the screen eventually leads to the contemplation of the meaning of such space, thus calling for the need of multitude of appreciation encompassing the visual and emotional aspects as well as the meaning of the narrative structure of the paintings derived from such construction of space.

  안성규는 그가 건물들을 세밀하게 묘사하는 것에서 보여주듯 세세한 부분의 극한까지 치밀하게 관찰하면서도 그러한 시각이 갖는 한계성을 건축물과 상반되는 또 다른 면적의 극한적 대비를 통해 역설적으로 치밀함과 극한에 다가서는 시각의 한계를 드러내기도 하고, 창문과 같은 캔버스 프레임 전체를 자연 상태의 색조에서 이탈하여 일정한 프레임에서의 시각의 변조를 통해 관찰자의 한계를 조작하고 폭로하기도 한다. 그리고 이 한계는 작가 자신의 한계성에 대한 인식이기도 하지만 인간의 본질적 한계에 대한 발언이기도 하기에 안성규의 회화가 단순한 풍경으로만 읽혀질 수 없게 만들어 주고 있다. 이러한 점은 그 기제가 화면에서 구조적으로 설정되어 있다는 점에서 안성규의 회화 공간이 가지는 의미의 영역에 시선을 가져갈 필요가 있다고 보여지며, 그래서 그의 작품은 시각적이고 감성적 측면에서부터 화면의 긴장감에서 오는 서사구조의 의미 부분까지 다양한 측면에서 음미를 해 볼 필요를 느끼게 한다.
